Bilingual Directory of Helping Resources for Residents of Sarasota County
For the past several years, the Hispanic/Latino Coalition has partnered with the Sarasota County Coalition for the Homeless to publish a bilingual resource directory for residents of Sarasota. The pocket-size directory is in both Spanish and English. The guide lists resources and services available to the community ranging from emergency telephone numbers, housing, transportation, health, legal, and financial services… the list goes on and on. The directory is distributed by human services agencies, churches, and members of both coalitions.
The directory has become so popular that we have had to print additional copies after all original copies were distributed. This year the directory was funded by member agencies and others. It was our goal to acquire enough funds to print more than the 29,000 which were printed last year. We surpassed our goal and were able to print 40,000 copies. Also through the cooperation of United Way 211 we were able to include many more South County Agencies in the directory.

Thanks to the generous funding of our sponsors, we have been able to print a substantial number of copies of this directory to be able to share at no cost to our community partners and residents of the county. Some agencies may already have copies of this directory due to their representation in the Coalition. If your organization would like copies to share with clients or to otherwise utilize in making referrals, we would be glad to be able to facilitate you with copies of our directory on a limited, first-come, first-served basis.

The information in the directory was provided primarily by United Way 2-1-1 of Manasota with some input from Hispanic Latino Coalition member agencies. We are aware that not all services are included in this directory, and also know that due to the changing nature of many human service agencies, some information may be incorrect. For this purpose, we want to give you the opportunity to inform us about new programs your agency might be offering and provide feedback for our next publication. If there have been changes in your program(s), we urge you to communicate with 2-1-1 (308-HELP) in order to make sure that this information has been updated in their database and to fill out the Bilingual Directory update form in order to include your correct information.
